Scavenger Hunt (Day 4)

We've enjoyed seeing your submissions come in - here are some of our favorites from yesterday!

Cabin Standings

The standings at the end of Day Four are as follows:

Gamers Against Yoshi's Story (GAYS): 3170
Super Dickmann's Dicke Nüsse: 3696
:3: 3201
Cabin of Theseus: 3098

*Side event scores are counted as the week progresses.

All submissions go into the respective submission channel for your cabin. Entries will not count unless they are posted there. Only submissions should be placed in that channel. Keep all of your submissions in one message if the character limit permits. Use image links (from Discord, imgur, etc.) instead of directly uploading to the channel when posting images. All discussion should be held in your cabin's main Discord channel.

If you need an extension on the deadline for whatever reason, talk to Bossvelt and Thundawave about it beforehand. All entries submitted past the deadline will only be counted for participation points and will NOT place if they would have otherwise.

ALL SUBMISSIONS ARE DUE IN THEIR RESPECTIVE CHANNELS BY .

Art

Pick your poison: writing or art? This event is mutually exclusive with the writing competition. If you submit (individually) for one, you CANNOT submit for the other. Submitting for both will result in 0 points. Choose wisely.

Should your poison of choice be art, you'll be putting a video game or media scene as a comic page. You can do signature style graphics, traditional art, digital art, whatever it may be. Take what you do best and make the best piece of art you possibly can!

Contest Guidelines
  • Theme: Depict a video game or media scene as a comic page (one page only, no panel limit). Cannot be a replica of an existing comic or manga scene.
  • Dimensions: Must not exceed 1240 x 1080 px if digital or standard 8.5" x 11" paper if traditional. Can be any dimensions within these restrictions.
  • You may include a two-sentence context or link with your submission. This doesn't count for points, but it may help us understand your piece if we don't know the scene.
  • You don't need to have full-body images, BUT if we are indecisive about the quality between the two, the full-body image will win. [Not applicable for GFX]
  • No nudity or excess violence. Keep it PG-13.
  • YOU MAY NOT USE AI TO AID YOU IN THIS EVENT. WE WILL KNOW. YOU WILL GET 0 POINTS.
  • Deadline: Friday at 11:59 PM EDT (the challenge lasts 3 days).

1st place will be awarded 150 points
2nd place will be awarded 100 points
3rd place will be awarded 75 points
4th and 5th place will be awarded 50 points
6th through 10th place will be awarded 20 points

Writing

It's time for the aspiring authors among us to put your thinking caps on and write us a short story! We love to read short stories, no matter how good or awful they may be. Use any type of technique to try and make a compelling story of whatever genre you choose, incorporating the items and phrases below. You don't need to include these items prominently in your story, but the more prominent they are while keeping the story interesting and well-written, the more we'll consider you as a winner. Note that Smash Camp fanfics, no matter how well-written, will receive 0 points.

Items you need to include:
  • Fountain
  • Fire
  • Ribbon

Choose at least three of the five dialogue options to include in your story:
  • "And why is that? I thought this was perfectly reasonable."
  • "[Name], they lost _____." (fill in the blank)
  • "Listen, this is all we have to work with right now."
  • "Um, could you please repeat that?"
  • "Come on, we don't have a million years!"

Contest Guidelines
  • Please make sure your word count is between 500 and 1000 words.
  • Keep it PG-13.
  • YOU MAY NOT USE AI TO AID YOU IN THIS EVENT. WE WILL CHECK. WE WILL KNOW. YOU WILL GET 0 POINTS.
  • Deadline: Friday at 11:59 PM EDT (the challenge lasts 3 days).

1st place will be awarded 150 points
2nd place will be awarded 100 points
3rd place will be awarded 75 points
4th and 5th place will be awarded 50 points
6th through 10th place will be awarded 20 points

Jeopardy

It's Jeopardy this time! We didn't want to fall back on the same trivia events as last year, so we decided to switch it up.

Here is how it'll work for Smash Camp:
  • All 4 cabins will participate. There will be 3 separate sessions of Jeopardy - 3 PM, 6 PM, and 9 PM EDT. The first session will have one participant from each cabin, while the second and third sessions will have up to two participants from each cabin for a team Jeopardy.
  • There will be 5 boards with 5 clues in each category for a total of 25 clues for each session.  The scoring for each category goes from 100-500.
  • A participant or team will be chosen at random to pick the first from the board. Once the clue is read by the host, anyone can buzz in to answer. You have about 5 seconds to answer. If you answer correctly, you get the points, but if you answer incorrectly or do not answer within 5 seconds, you lose points equal to the amount the clue was worth.
  • From there, whoever gives the correct answer to the clue will get to pick next from the board and so on.
  • There will be one daily double per session. If you get a daily double, you can wager up to your total amount of points to potentially double your score if you get the answer correct.
  • For logistical reasons, there will not be a final Jeopardy.
  • The winner of each session is decided by who has the most amount of points by the end.
  • The winner of the entire event will be decided by which cabin has the most combined amount of points from all sessions.

1st place will be awarded 200 points
2nd place will be awarded 150 points
3rd place will be awarded 100 points
4th place will be awarded 50 points
*25 points for getting 1st in your individual jeopardy session

Scavenger Hunt (Day 5)

A staple of Smash Camp that we're excited to bring back this year! For this event, we will provide a list of items that each camper will need to find and take a picture of in real life. Find them, take a picture of them (with the required proof - see below), and get some points! You will earn 5 points for each picture submitted, with an extra 5 bonus points available for specific items.

Contest Guidelines

  • You may only take photos of these items in person (in your house, at a store, wherever as long as you're physically with the item). It cannot be a screenshot or an image from the internet.
  • Your photo absolutely must be accompanied by a slip of paper with your username and cabin number on it.
  • In the past we've been lenient with the validity of submissions that were not totally accurate but showed effort and/or creativity. This year, we will only accept submissions that are accurate as to what we're requesting (e.g. if we ask for a lime, we wouldn't accept a lemon that's been painted green).
  • Bonus points will be available for one or more items per day. These points will be awarded at the discretion of camp staff for submissions that meet the bonus requirements.

Today's items are the following:
  • Gingerbread house Bonus if gingerbread man is included (Can be fake, must be 3D. Homeless gingerbread man doesn't count.)
  • A big hat (Witch hat, top hat, sombrero, etc. Cannot be something you created for the scavenger hunt.)
  • A rabbit or rabbit-themed item (Must be main focus of the item. Cannot be something you created for the scavenger hunt)

Guess the Sound - Video Game Edition

It's as easy as that! We will be providing 25 sound clips in a designated channel. The cabins will have to guess the video game the clip is from and what the sound is.

Example: If we provided a sound clip of a creeper from Minecraft blowing up, the answer would be "Minecraft - Creeper blowing up" or something like that. So long as it is correct, the format itself doesn't matter much.

Cabins will get 5 points for getting the correct game and 5 points for getting the correct sound.

Tournaments

We're nearing the end of each tournament. Good luck to those who are still battling!

Side Events

Once you finish your daily activities, we strongly encourage you to participate in our side events! Some of these will last all of Smash Camp, and some have deadlines. Make sure to read the rules and enjoy what we think is one of the coolest parts of Smash Camp! Additional details for each of the side events can be found here.

The Campies

Tomorrow we will host the Smash Camp 2025 closing awards ceremony, which includes the traditional Campie Awards! This is where we award campers with trophies that they get voted to win, by you!
